Due to suspension and chassis tuning help combined with advice and guidance from Catalyst Reaction, I've gone from 2:13s in February to 1:59 on Saturday and 2 F40 top novice trophies in 3 races. Thanks for the help up to this point and I'd love to represent CRS next season!

I felt pretty clever as I rolled into Sears Pt. late on Friday afternoon for my second race weekend ever.  I was giving myself plenty of time to set up and relax before Saturday's hectic schedule.  When i put the bike on the stands i noticed a glistening fork slider,  wet with oil. Quick to panic, i paced through the paddock certain that my weekend was a lost cause.   I'd seen Dave Moss when i arrived but  he was  working with his sponsored racers and not available to the general public.

Nevertheless I hovered until  finding the nerve to make my approach, weaseling into Dave's space  with mock calmness.   Instantly he put me at ease, volunteering to fix my hemorrhaging fork overnight in time for Saturday's practice.

Not only did CRStuning  repair my fork with time to spare, they installed  magic fairy dust which brought me to two novice wins on Saturday afternoon.

Dave Jim & Nickie: Thank you for your expert suspension work over the years and for consistently going above and beyond for  us regular folk.    You've made this nervous novice a happy man.

Thank you for ALL of your help so far this season!  You are a real stand up guy.  We can't express enough how thankful we are for you to help us calm down a little bit and give us a basic game plan for attacking our set up.  I want to try to catch you and Thunderhill so Gregg and I can talk about trying to do something for you in return.  We have pointed some people your direction and will continue to do so for trackside set up support.  This is the best my bikes have felt all year and is miles ahead of last year.

Dave - Thanks for all your help this season. You played a large role in a very successful championship season for me. I've only been racing for three years, and starting at 48 years old, it was no small feat. Adjustable suspension was something unheard of in my day. You made my Honda CBR 600 F3 handle perfectly. Every aspect of the bikes rideability was attributed to your suspension tuning. Whether it was picking up the throttle and driving out of the turns, braking deep, full lean bump absorption, the bike was so predictable and stable I gained the confidence to push myself and the bike harder and harder. 10 race wins later I clinched two championships. Truly a dream come true. I honestly believe without you and your Catalyst Reaction team this dream would not have been possible.

Yours truly,

Dave, you are responsible for my fastest lap times and that’s probably all I need to say other than thank you. However, I will also add that you manage to take my vague descriptions of what my bike is doing wrong and somehow figure out how to fix the problem, so I owe you another thank you for listening. See you soon at the races and thank you again, and again, and again...

Thank you for spending time on my 2007 Yamaha R6.  I had recently had my forks re-sprung and re-valved at GP suspension and thought awesome my bike should handle like a dream.  Boy was I wrong.... I spent two trackdays trying to find the right setup and it was getting frustrating!  I finally said the hell with it took it over to Dave in the afternoon. Dave took a look at my bike, took a few measurements and a few clicks later sent me out on my Session.  I came back and had the biggest smile on my face!  The best thing was he took the time to explain to me afterwards what was wrong and what he did to make it better.

Having good suspension is worthless unless it properly setup by a professional and DAVE is a Magician!  I'm not a racer by any means... Just a fast B group rider.  You don't need to be a racer to enjoy the benefits of What Dave has to offer.  If I would of spent the $40 dollars earlier I wouldn't of wasted two trackdays!  Now my bike does handle like a dream.  Thanks Dave.

Dave is true professional... I wouldn't hesitate to use or recommend him for all my future suspension needs!

Last year I was racing a 2005 Yamaha R6, this year I have a new 2008 Yamaha R6. With a short budget I was unable to purchase aftermarket suspension at $almost $3000 for forks and shock. Catalyst Reaction re-valved the front forks and re-sprung the front and back to my weight for a ¼ cost of a new suspension.

With a few adjustments and some fine tuning they were able to make this bike handle like a dream with the reworked stock suspension. As a huge bonus the tire wear is perfect!. I dropped 3 to 4 seconds consistently off of my normal lap times earning me a top novice trophy in 600 super bike in the AFM's round 2 at Infineon Raceway. For those of you who do not have the budget for after market suspension work I highly advise you to go see Catalyst Reaction for help. The high quality end product and suspension tuning effort put forth to help us riders and racers is head and tails above the rest.

THANK YOU CATALYST REACTION!!!

When I met Dave Moss from CRST it was at my very first race at Willow Springs Raceway in 2006. He helped me get a base line set up on my Yamaha R6 which was a very important thing to me as I think it would be to anyone starting out.

He checked out and tweaked my bike at every track that I went to to ensure that my bike was set up the best it could be for that specific track. ( Mind you without calling Dave, he was at 4 of the 5 races I had done this year on a street bike. (Willow Springs, Fontana, Infinion Raceway, and Laguna Seca.) I did not see him at Miller although he may have been there.

Anytime Dave would look at my bike he always see's what I had set up wrong or did to my bike wrong, and he would fix it or tell me how to fix it. At Laguna Seca (a track I had not one single lap on) I needed to be up to speed within a FIM shortened 30 minute session and then the 20 minute qualifier, to make the field at the AMA national.

After my initial warm up I was a full 9 seconds off pole position. (Again mind you I had never even seen the track before) Dave totally changed my own "messed up" Miller set up to work for Laguna Seca. He then said to me "The next session you WILL drop 4-5 seconds no worries"

Well Dave was right as I dropped a solid 4.2 seconds in the nest session. I still missed the national by 1 second as the rest of the racers dropped about 1-2, but I was only there to learn the track so it was almost like winning for me. To see what could be down in such a short period of timed really made the day fun for me. I just wish I had found Dave earlier in the day, because I know I would've made the main event if only we had a few more laps with a bike that worked that well.

I do not feel right if he does check out my bike before I race it.

Thanks Dave for the help on my Yamaha R6 this year. I hope to be able to race some in 2007 and beyond and work with you more.

As for challenges, certainly my biggest this year (after getting the bike initially set-up) has been the hot tearing issue shredding my tires. As always your advice and tuning was impeccable despite having almost no consensus with the other “experts” in the paddock. But, the proof is certainly in the pudding, so when they say do this and it doesn’t work, and you say do the other and it does, well, it’s pretty hard to argue with results. I also had improved results by using harder compounds on hot days and at tracks that present more tire wear…Thill in particular.

Time-wise, I really just came up to speed this year, and the leaps and bounds are astonishing at this point. I know the increments will come much harder as I progress toward the front.

I competed in the AFM Open Production, AFM Formula Pacific and AMA Superstock classes in 2006 with a season result of 4th in Open Production. Although i've raced 600's for quite a few years, and to a championship in 2005, the 180 HP 1000cc bike gave me a whole new set of challenges in determining correct suspension/geometry setup to make the bike work properly.

You might think that suspension is something that gets dialed in and then left alone, but that isn't really the case. Conditions change all the time, track, track temperature, tire selection(compound, carcess construction, geometry, tire life), and current lap time are only a few components i had to struggle with to find a balance. The hardest part was that some things are so non-intuitive, and there's a vast number of adjustment combinations. I'm so glad to have worked with Dave Moss of CRS Tuning this year, because he is knowledgable, always at the races and trackdays, and always a valuable resource to continue dialing in the bike and talking over whatever difficulties i'm experiencing. As my lap times improved, there always seemed to be further refinement possibilities. I started the season with a bike that was unstable and hard to ride at even a moderate pace, and ended the season with a bike that does nothing wrong at podium pace. I made it to the front of Open Production several times this season, and with Dave's help, I'm looking forward to staying in the front of my classes next season !

The more experience I get riding at track days and racing, the more I realize how important suspension and bike geometry is to improving my skills and going faster. All the horsepower in the world is useless if your bike isn't set up properly to use it, and nothing will slow you down faster than a poorly tuned suspension.

Dave Moss with Catalyst Reaction Tuning was instrumental in not only developing an excellent baseline geometry and suspension setup for my racebike, but also has helped me to understand how the different suspension components operate and interact with each other. Under Dave's tutelage I have learned a basic language in which I can describe what the bike is doing, which he uses to identify and solve the particular issue which is slowing me down.

Catalyst Reaction uses data collection sheets to record suspension setups at each track, which takes the guesswork out of dialing in your suspension when you come to the track. This service is invaluable and easy to use, anyone who is serious about improving their riding abilities should be taking advantage of their trackside service.

Working with Dave to better my suspension setup at every track day and race weekend was an intregal part of my success in the '05 season, where I took 2nd place in the AFM Top Novice championship and 6th place overall in 600 superbike.
Thank You Dave and everyone at Catalyst Reaction Tuning!

Sincerely,

Racing is about putting what you have and know to the test. If it works, if it's correct - you come out of it with a trophy. When I started racing, it quickly became apparent to me that I needed help with my suspension settings. I was extremely reluctant to talk to the "experts" because I'm frankly, very sick of guys setting up my bike without consulting me - doing whatever they want - ignoring my input - and trying to make me ride "their" way. I may be a girl, but I was pulling 1:28's at WSIR and did not need or want to ride anyone else's ride but my own - yet no one would respect that, they all thought they knew better would force the issue. So I learnt to shy away from "help" offered and tried to stumble along finding my own way. It was really tough trying to do that with suspension though - I needed help. The help came in the form of talking to Dave Moss of - Catalyst Reaction Suspension Tuning.

I found that forcing the issue and preaching that their way was the ONLY way was not Dave's way and I was immediately impressed. Wow…here's a guy who's actually listening to my input! He actually listens, he observes, he interprets, and then he puts it into the bike - molding the bike little by little to become more of an extension of me and less of an unmanageable beast. Every time I came off the track, I'd talk to Dave and explain what it was doing and what I wanted it to do. Dave would listen and make the necessary adjustments. Every time I went back out, I dropped some more time and gained a lot more confidence. Now, my racebike is a R6, with agressive race geometry and Dunlop 208GPA's - not the most stable of combinations normally - but Dave has made my bike rock steady and stable. You can have all the best upgrades on your bike, but if it doesn't react to your individual riding style as a smooth, flowing extension of yourself - it's unstable and undermines everything else you're putting into it.

This is the most valuable investment I could have possibly ever made with my bike and I would whole heartedly recommend Dave's services to anyone out there, no matter the application.

Dave,
This is BJ Prince, Bryce Prince Dad. Just wanted to thank you again for helping out with Bryce's suspension on his RS125! His lap times have dramatically increased. He has beat his old best lap time of 1:59 at Button Willow to a 1:55.431 That is almost a lap record for a 125. And he won his race at Miller Motorsports with WERA and he is currently holding the track record for a 125 at 2:08.321 first time racing there!!

Thanx my friend, for the AWESOME service and curtesy. You are truly an asset

"There's only a handful of people that can match Dave's ability to maximize the performance of motorcycle suspension.  A background in suspension development and years of real world racing experience gives Dave the unique ability to translate rider feed back into simple yet effective changes that consistently yield amazing results.  If I could only make one modification to a stock motorcycle, it would be without question, a visit to CRS Tuning.  I credit Dave as the main factor in helping me achieve 3 AFM championship titles within two years.  Thanks Dave!"

This is my first full season racing in the AFM. With Dave's help I have already achieved one of my goals for the season, two top 10 finishes in my second race of the year. I was having serious tire wear/traction issues on my 04 750, after going to Dave he suggested changing the rear shock spring (which he did Saturday at the races, thanks again.) I immediately dropped 2.5 seconds and my wear/traction issues disappeared. I can safely say Dave has made a huge difference in my riding/racing.

Dave Moss is the man!
I was naive enough to campaign a known ill-handling Suzuki TLR in a few classes of AFM racing. Dave solved all of my handling issues by helping with my settings, changing things internally and making geometry changes on the bike. Dave has taken a bike that wandered through corners aimlessly to a bike that I can put anywhere I want anytime I want. All this while at the track without losing any of my valuable practice time. To say his help has improved my riding would be an understatement. I have two top novice trophies, I'm currently 7th in top novice points overall and my best finish was a 7th place in open twins. Thanks again Dave!

Recently I've come to the conclusion that if I ever want my bike truly well set-up I need professional help. After hearing many, many great reviews I decided to contacted Dave Moss of Catlyst Reaction Tuning. At our last Trackdaz event we started getting things adjusted. I thought I was close... Dave said I wasn't. He made some significant adjustments and the bike felt much, much better... and we're just getting started! I can certainly understand wh y Dave has such great reputation around the racetrack and I look forward to getting more help from him at future Trackdaz events and race weekends. I highly recommend anyone who takes their riding seriously to contact Dave to help get your bike set up. You'll be glad you did!

Thanks again Dave!

Dave Moss is a suspension GENIUS !

2004 was my first complete race season. Racing a Suzuki TL1000R was already a challenge, but with Dave's help I was able to gain an amazing amount of control and seriously improve my lap times. Even though I couldn't put into words what was wrong, Dave was able to watch me ride and analyze my complaints to figure out exactly what adjustments needed to be made.

My goals for this season are to improve my lap times and try to run with the top racers. With Dave's knowledge, help and support I know it's possible. Thanks Dave!

Dave assisted me with Chassis and Suspension set-up of my newly built, untested Racebike. With somewhat vague rider input from me over the space of less than half a day's tracktime, Dave was able to zero in on the optimal suspension set-up for me. The resulting improvement in the Suspension performance of the machine was astonishing. Without Dave's input I would absolutely not have arrived at the current level of suspension performance, even after several weeks of testing and adjustment. Without question, the first stop for any racer should be CRS

"Suspension tuning is a black art to me but Dave Moss has been spot on in helping me dial in my race bikes at the track."

Dave Moss has helped me to setup my 1990 FZR400, 1998 TZ250 and 2003 R6. Very few people have the expertise of such a wide range of bikes, and with proper input from this racer, he has dialed in my bikes to ride on rails. Thanks to Dave’s help, I have podium’d every race weekend since he’s started helping me back in Febuary.

Having someone help you tune your suspension is the key ingredient to having confidence in your bike to realize fast lap times. Dave has given me more confidence in riding than I could have asked for. A real genius with a wrench and tape measure… and he’s British to boot, so he gets two thumb’s up instead of the traditional one! Cheers Dave.

"As both a racer and a track instructor I have met and worked with many different suspension companies and technicians. I was very glad to meet Dave Moss and have used him as my sole suspension tuner ever since. I had my best year ever racing in 2004 and much of my improvement can be directly traced to Dave's efforts in helping me sort out and maintain my suspension. His knowledge and skills are on par with the best out there, his friendliness, professionalism and dedication to the racing community unmatched. I highly recommend Dave to anyone looking to improve their bike and their riding."

As a first time rider, on a track, 2005 has been a learning experience. With all the new experiences that come with being a first time track rider one element that I don't have to worry about is my suspension. There is a lot to learn in your first year, everything is new. Your surroundings are new, your bike feels new underneath you, and there are many new faces. One new face that is a joy to always see is Dave Moss. Thanks to Dave my suspension is in good hands. From my feedback and his knowledge we can adjust what needs to be adjusted; overall, cutting my lap times down and making me more of a faster rider, and better competition for others.

Dave's hard work, skills, and experience have given me an extra boost to make me a better rider. Thanks Dave for all that you do.

This being my 1st season of AFM racing in Formula 2 on my Honda RS250 seemed not so difficult with the bike working as well as it does. I met Dave at the begining of 2005 and had him help me with the suspension on my 1992 Honda RS250. His efforts were priceless as the bike was much easier to ride and stopped spinning the tire as much. Then he worked on my 1997 Honda RS250 which was the actual bike that I wanted to complete he season with. Again his efforts were priceless as I have a race bike that handles properly and I can count on to do what its suppose to. I have only been riding motorcycles for under 2 years so his advice on riding had been helpful as well. I could only tell him what the bike was doing and he would give it a tweak and correct the problem. Ive lowered my times tremendously over the year and have finished 10th in the last 2 races and have recieved 3 top novice trophies. I cant say enough about the help Dave has given me throught the year with his advice. But unfortunatly he has not had to even touch my suspension throughout the entire year at any track, so I have not been able to financially support his buisness. He did way to good of a job the first time with it!!!!!
